Help develop the Pickering Museum Village's upcoming exhibit!

The Pickering Museum Village will install the Gather & Grow exhibit in various facilities around the City to promote our events and programs.

The exhibit will travel to three City facilities in 2024-2025:

1. May 27 to September 30, 2024 - Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex, Main Foyer

2. October - December 2024 - Pickering Public Library, Main Lobby

3. January – April 2025 - George Ashe Library & Community Centre

The exhibit will explore how food preparation and production has united people and communities across cultures and throughout history. Subthemes include the journey of food, food as a universal language, developing sustainable food practices, food as medicine and coming together to eat.

The Museum wants you to get involved in this project:

Share your favourite food stories

Share your favourite memories about food. Talk about your favourite meal, memory of food preparation with a loved one, etc. Quote and/or content may be used in the permanent on-site exhibit.

Share your favourite recipes

Post your favourite recipes which may be included in a Pickering Cookbook to be published and sold at the Museum.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Ellen Tayles-Armstrong, Conservator, at etayles@pickering.ca.
