As of June 30, 2026, Greenwood Community Centre will permanently close. The City is currently in the process of awarding a demolition contract. Please stay tuned to this project page for updates.

Programs, events, and facility bookings can be accessed through the new Dorsay Community & Heritage Centre - located at 2365 Sixth Concession Road. For information or bookings, please contact 905.420.4623 or facilitybooking@pickering.ca.

While the Greenwood Community Centre is closing, Greenwood Park will remain open to the public. For park permits, please contact facility bookings.

Overview

Greenwood Park, located at 3551 Greenwood Road (see Figure 1) was initially designed in 1970, and included a two-story, 8,400 square-foot community centre, a baseball diamond, tennis courts, children’s playground, informal trails, parking lot, and a seasonal skating rink.

As the community's needs continue to evolve, the time has come to prepare a redevelopment plan for the park, with programming to better serve residents for generations to come.

Survey Results

The results will be used to inform us of how the neighbouring residents currently use the park, and what improvements community members would like to see within the space. Concept plans of the park alterations will then be prepared and shared with residents for further comments.
