Mayor Ryan recently announced that after a 28-year career in municipal politics, he plans to officially retire at the end of this term of office.

Please join us in celebrating Mayor Ryan with your best wishes, fondest memories, and unique shared histories.

Tuesday, September 20 marked Mayor Ryan's last Meeting of Council. He was joined by family, friends, colleagues, and community members, who paid tribute to him, and the exciting and dramatic legacy that he leaves behind. When he retires at the end of this term, Mayor Ryan will be Pickering’s longest-serving Mayor, and tonight, Council Chambers was heavy with emotion as we reflected on his journey, and shared our best wishes, fondest memories, and unique shared histories.     Hi Dave, I remember well chatting with you at 14th avenue many years ago.

    just before you left IBM. Since then my wife Hazel and I have always been so pleased with the terrific job you have done as our mayor of Pickering We have lived here over 40 years and enjoyed all of our years here We are proud to have had you as mayor We wish you all the best in your future years.     It is with great sadness, but understanding that this day must come.

    I want to personally thank you for your support of my efforts to make the City of Pickering a place that my family, myself and community members call home.

    I will continue to work to build on the foundation of what has been set and that I have been able to contribute to.

    Thank you for leading by example and supporting where you could and lending and ear when you were unable.
