The City of Pickering has entered the next stage in bringing the West Shore Skate Spot project to life.

This site was identified as a potential skate spot location in the City’s 2017 Skateboard Park Strategy. Initial public consultation took place in Spring 2021 to gather feedback on this location and general input from the skateboarding community. At the June 28, 2021 Council Meeting, Council endorsed the creation of a skate spot at the West Shore Community Centre and gave staff authorization to proceed with the implementation of this project.

The proposed skate spot is located between the West Shore Community Centre parking lot and Bayly Street. Please have a look at the existing site photos and location map to the right. At approximately 3,000 ft2 (285 m2), the West Shore Skate Spot will offer a unique combination of features specifically tailored to the conditions of the site. Please note that this will be a graffiti-free skate spot. Scatliff+Miller+Murray and Transition Construction Inc. will carry out the design/build, in close collaboration with the City and its community members.
