It can all start with a simple hello

My neighbour, Sam, is a young kid - maybe around 20. He has a lot going on in his life and plenty of distractions. This doesn't stop him from taking the time to ask after/check in on one of the more elderly gentlemen on our street. I know this may not seem like a huge deal, but loneliness kills, and the days can be long for someone who is older, lives alone and doesn't have much social interaction. Although Sam's life is full, he makes time to give this gentleman his attention and I have witnessed the positive effects. I wanted to give him a quick shout out - we need more Sams.
