The City of Pickering is excited to invite community members to participate in the selection of three unique public artworks that will enrich our shared spaces and celebrate our diverse heritage, culture, and history.

As part of our continued commitment to community engagement and cultural development, we are seeking your input on three public art projects currently underway:

Council Chambers Public Art

As part of the Council Chambers renovation, Pickering resident and internationally renowned sculptor Dorsey James has submitted three concept designs inspired by mythology, symbolism, and Canadian identity. These works reflect the spirit of unity, memory, and belonging in our multicultural community.

Pickering Heritage & Community Centre Public Art

The new Heritage & Community Centre will serve as a hub for culture and connection. Three shortlisted artists have submitted their final proposals, each aiming to capture the essence of Pickering’s identity and vibrant heritage.

Ernie Coombs (Mr. Dressup) Commemorative Artwork

To honour the legacy of beloved Canadian children’s entertainer and long-time Pickering resident Ernie Coombs, three artist proposals have been submitted to commemorate his contributions to children’s media and our community.

Your feedback is essential in shaping these projects. Starting May 22 until June 5, 2025, you can explore the proposed designs on Let’s Talk Pickering and vote for your favourite in each category.
