Where will this new skateboard park be located?
The new skateboard park will be located at 1640 Kingston Road (within the Hydro Corridor).
What will happen to the existing skateboard park close by at Diana, Princess of Wales Park?
The existing skateboard park at Diana, Princess of Wales Park is nearly 30 years old and approaching the end of its lifespan. It was also constructed before current skateboard park design standards were established.
Once the new skateboard park is complete, the existing one at Diana, Princess of Wales Park will be removed.
What is the total project cost?
The total project cost is $1,064,460.00, which includes the proposal amount, a contingency, and other associated costs. This will be funded through the Capital Budget and transfers from both the Development Charges City Share Reserve and the Development Charges Parks & Recreation Reserve Fund.
Will the City enter a new licence agreement with Hydro One Networks Inc?
The City of Pickering will enter into an amended licence agreement with Hydro One Networks Inc. to include the hydro corridor lands north of Kingston Road that will be necessary for the new skateboard park, parking, and amenities.
