Local Company with a Big Heart

The Brougham Cemetery is a small community cemetery dating back to the mid 1800s that is run by a small group of volunteers. The derecho on May 21, 2022 blew over or broke most of the trees bordering the south side of the cemetery. The Cemetery approached Dutchmaster Nurseries, a long time local wholesaler of trees and manufacturer of nursery equipment, to see what they could do to help. Our hope was that they could give us a discount. Instead, Dutchmaster Nurseries generously donated trees and planted them. This was invaluable as the Cemetery has a very limited budget and relies on donations to cover the cost of cutting the grass while other work is done by volunteers. Together with Dutchmaster Nurseries we are able to keep this little part of Pickering beautiful.

Dutchmaster

The Tillaart family moved to Brougham in 1964 and started Dutchmaster in 1971. It is one of the largest commercial growers of nursery stock in Canada. Based on their experience Dutchmaster Nurseries has developed and manufactured a range of equipment now used by nurseries throughout North America and the world. The best known of these is their tree spade but there are dozens of products plus custom products. Dutchmaster is proud to be a local company with deep roots in the community with an international reach.
