Greenwood Blacksmith Shop Redesign

The Greenwood Blacksmith Shop at the Pickering Museum Village will be undergoing rehabilitation work in 2021. The work will include lighting upgrades and a new exhibit to be opened in 2022. The target audience for the in-person exhibit is youth aged 8-14; their parents and caregivers; and museum visitors who are participating in blacksmith programs at the museum.

Vision:

Explore the science and artistry of making a 19^th Century wagon. Children and adults will design, create, test and play with the stages and processes of wagon making. Each room will explore a different aspect of the process: metalworking, woodworking and painting.

We invite residents to review the proposed exhibit plan and provide feedback on this exciting new project.

Public consultation will be open until July 18, 2021.
